An update on a special girl we introduced you to last spring.

At two-weeks old, Katie Ramsey was placed in a washer machine by her biological mother.

She is now twelve and lives with her adoptive parents.

Katie suffers from autism and several other major medical problems.

"The Sidney Gran Foundation is based at Children's Hospital in Birmingham and it was set up to be a family assistance fund foundation."

Director Drake Nunn says the program is designed to help families with children with major illnesses.

To help offset the medical costs that can easily pile up during hospital stays for things like gas and toiletries.

Parents usually find the foundation during a hospital stay...however Nunn found Katie after our story aired last spring.

"I recognized the need Katy was going to have and that she was going to be a patient at children's hospital."

So Nunn contacted Bank Independent Area President Larry Archer....and made aware of Katy's needs.

"We're making a thousand dollar contribution to the Sidney Gran Foundation."

A foundation already helping with odds and ends to make Ramsey house more accessible for Katy.

This special donation will go towards the purchase of a wheelchair.

A wheelchair to greatly reduce Katy's pain when she walks and to make their lives easier.

Katy's mother, Lee Ramsey says they are.

"wonderful, and very blessed."

This is a good start for Katy and her parents are grateful for the help.

However, they are still several thousand dollars shy of the amount needed to get Katy a wheelchair.

A fund has been set up in Katie's name at Bank Independent.
